The Pittsfield Players
2002 DAME AWARDS
Following 2 major Award Cemermonies (1988 & 2001) the Pittsfield Players have instituted an annual Awards Ceremony to celebrate the dedication and work of Pittsfield Players members in bringing fine amateur theatre to the Suncook Valley, and recognize those people - actors, actresses, directors and crew, for their efforts. Chosen as the signature name of these awards, DAME. This being significant as it is named for two special individuals who enjoyed, supported and were in many ways benefactors to the Pittsfield Players. Arthur and Vauline Dame for many years owned and operated the Scenic Theatre. They were gracious in allowing early productions in their movie theatre several times each year. They were supportive as some of our best fans, and even more important, our critics. Arthur's whistling of tunes from our musical productions was a sure sign of a "thumbs up." Their enthusiasm for the Player's endeavors is long lasting, and their gracious gesture in allowing the Pittsfield Players to buy the theatre once they were no longer able to sustain its operation, has most likely contributed as a major factor in the Player's continued success. It is with a sense of pride that the Pittsfield Players present annually the DAME AWARDS, which in our way, continues to show not only our continued gratitude to the Dames, but to pass on each year to the recipients, the pride and approval for good work, that Arthur and Vauline displayed to us.
